In Chinese Medicine, all the functions of nature, including human body, are divided into either Yin or Yang energy. Yin represents fluid, blood, stillness, coolness, and ‘down’, while Yang represents air, motion, Qi, heat, and ‘up’. When water (yin) is heated (yang), it becomes steam (yang), goes up (yang), get cooled (yin) high in the sky, becomes fluid (yin) again, falls down (yin) as rain. When yin and Yang are out of balance, we have natural disasters such as draught, flood, or excessively huge typhoons. As our body is a part of the same natural system, yin/yang imbalance in our body can cause many uncomfortable symptoms, such as cold feet, swelling, hot flush and insomnia which can lead to more serious dysfunctions of body and mind.
We also divide the contents of the nature in five elements: Wood/Liver, Fire/Heart, Earth/Spleen, Metal/Lung, and Water/Kidney. Each element has its own functions in nature/body, and has an effect on the functions of other elements. When one element becomes too weak or too strong, the balance of nature/body is compromised.
Through a careful examination, we evaluate your body type according the balance of yin/yang and the functions of five elements. Based on the evaluation, the best remedy is prescribed. |
